Limelight in New Jersey

Limelight uses intense pulsed light (IPL) at New Jersey’s South Jersey Skin Care & Laser Center as an innovative way to quickly, safely, and comfortably remove sun spots and age spots from your face, chest, arms, and hands. The signs of sun damage will flake off after one or two treatments, leaving clearer and younger-looking skin. It also works to clear visible capillaries, known as telangiectasias, and to lighten red skin.

Limelight is a pulsed light system that is exceptionally effective for treating pigment at a very comfortable energy level. There is no need to apply topical anesthetic or gel beforehand, and you can realize superior results in just one or two treatments. The procedure is the next generation in IPL treatments in New Jersey and beyond.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) at New Jersey's South Jersey Skin Care & Laser Center treats pigmentation irregularities.

South Jersey Skin Care & Laser Center uses Limelight for intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments in New Jersey, helping to clear the redness of rosacea, lighten freckles and sun spots, and address overall skin pigmentation irregularities like blotchiness.

What Is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)?

An intense pulsed light (IPL) system operates using a hand-held flash lamp to emit micro-pulses of light across a broad band of visible wavelengths. When the bright light passes through the epidermis, it especially impacts the pigment-generating cells and “breaks up” the cause of uneven pigmentation. IPL is primarily used to target pigment-related issues including sun damage, red spots, and brown spots.

How Does Limelight Work?

The Limelight IPL device consists of a small and smooth handpiece placed directly onto the skin to transmit the light. This visible light is selectively absorbed by the pigmented cells or particles in the skin.

When light penetrates the tissue and causes pigmented cells and particles to heat up, this triggers a natural therapeutic response in the body. The impacted cells on the surface eventually flake away, while newly stimulated skin cells begin the production of new collagen. As an advanced IPL system available in New Jersey, Limelight offers a treatment with minimal discomfort.

What Areas Can IPL Treat?

Limelight can safely treat sun spots, age spots, redness, and telangiectasias on virtually any part of the body. The face, neck, chest, shoulders, and arms are the most popular areas for IPL treatment in New Jersey because they are typically more exposed to the sun. Both discrete spots and skin densely covered with freckles respond well to treatment.

How Do Limelight IPL Treatments Feel?

Any feelings or sensations will vary from patient to patient. When the handpiece is placed on your skin, it will feel cool and comfortable. When the pulse of light is delivered, you may feel a mild, brief pinching sensation.

Is Limelight IPL Safe?

IPL via Limelight is safe, is non-invasive, has minimal side effects, and requires no recovery time. It is also gentler than laser treatments and can treat larger areas with each flash.

What Can I Expect After a Limelight IPL Treatment?

After receiving an IPL treatment at our New Jersey office, your skin may appear slightly red for a few hours or, on rare occasions, several days. Pigmented areas of the skin will become darker and raised on the skin’s surface. These are positive signs that the IPL treatment was effective, and the pigmented lesions should naturally peel and flake off within one to two weeks, causing the darker areas to be less noticeable.

How Long Are Limelight IPL Sessions?

Not counting initial consultations and time needed for paperwork and answering questions, the actual treatment session will only take a few minutes. Moreover, since there is no need to apply gel or any topical anesthetic, your total appointment time can easily fit into your lunch hour.

How Long Will Limelight Results Last?

The Limelight IPL treatment will provide you results that can last for years depending on environmental factors (such as sun exposure) and your aging process and genetics. To properly maintain clear, even results, the South Jersey Skin Care & Laser Center team recommends that you schedule maintenance treatments every three to four months, use anti-aging skin products, and apply sun protection before going outdoors.
