Endolift®

Tighten Loose Skin with Groundbreaking Minimally Invasive Laser Technology at Our New Jersey Practice

Endolift® at New Jersey's South Jersey Skin Care & Laser Center is a laser-based treatment to "firm up" skin that has loosened with age. It works by stimulating collagen production and remodeling the skin in not just one, but two layers: superficial and deep.

Youthful skin loses its elasticity and ability to hold its shape over time. Although the sagging is a result of intrinsic aging, it can also be worsened by weight loss, gravity, ultraviolet (UV) light exposure, smoking, and/or the use of harsh chemicals in skin products or detergents. No matter the reason, if you find that your skin is no longer "bouncing back" like it used to, Endolift® can help.

What Is Endolift®?

Endolift® is a nonsurgical cosmetic dermatology treatment performed as an outpatient procedure. It acts like an alternative to a traditional facelift for tightening skin on the face and is designed to encourage skin restructuring, reduce skin laxity, smooth lines, and reduce accumulations of excessive subcutaneous fat.

What sets Endolift® apart from other nonsurgical anti-aging treatments is that the laser goes into deeper layers of the skin to promote collagen regeneration—without damaging the skin's surface.

The treatment process itself involves the insertion of single-use, micro optical fibers into the layer of tissue below the skin called the hypodermis or subcutaneous tissue. Each fiber is slightly thinner than a human hair, and they emit laser energy directly into the treatment area with a fan-like movement. Topical anesthesia is used since the treatment usually does not require incisions and is well tolerated.

The laser probe causes minor trauma in the form of micro-channels, which activate fibroblasts to ramp up collagen production. A lifting effect is noticeable right away, and the resulting collagen production makes the skin tighter, stronger, and healthier looking over the next few months.

Who Can Benefit from Endolift® Laser Treatments?

Endolift® is approved for patients older than 18. It is commonly used to enhance multiple areas and features, such as the jawline, chin and under-chin region, jowls, lower eyelids, nasolabial area, and neck. In addition to its indications for different areas of the face and neck, it is also beneficial for the arms, the area around the navel, love handles, the buttocks, inner thighs, hips, knees, and ankles. The procedure may also help to improve scars that are associated with cystic acne.

This laser device is safe for all skin types.

The laser will be inserted through a pinprick-sized hole in the skin. Topical anesthesia will be provided to reduce any discomfort, though you may experience a warm sensation during the treatment. Once the Endolift® session has been completed, the single-use microfibers are then removed and thrown away.

No recovery time or downtime is necessary after Endolift®, so it will be possible for patients to resume their normal activities within just a few hours of the treatment. An Endolift® session can be completed within one hour, but the length of time depends on the area or areas you're having treated. It's normal to experience some mild post-treatment redness and swelling, along with possible numbness in the area.

How Long Do Results from Endolift® Last?

After just one treatment, most Endolift® patients will see skin tightening results right away, as well as long-term effects that continually improve over the next several months as collagen proliferates in the deep layers of skin. Typically, just one treatment is needed, but it can be repeated within a year to maximize results for patients with more severe laxity.

The long-term appearance of the treated area will be affected by any previous medical conditions a patient has had, along with their age, state of health, and gender. At six to nine months, the new collagen that has been generated becomes a mature form of collagen that provides better support for the skin structure. The skin-tightening effects typically last for several years—but the aging process will continue to affect the skin, so you may wish to have periodic maintenance treatments.

Are There Any Alternatives to Endolift® for Laser Skin Tightening?

Along with Endolift®, South Jersey Skin Care also provides a full selection of other laser- and light-based treatments—including Pearl™ resurfacing (fractional ablative laser) laser hair removal, skin tightening, Laser Genesis wrinkle reduction, and IPL. Laser treatments can sometimes be used in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures to maximize facial rejuvenation results.
