Frequently Asked Questions

What is truSculpt?

truSculpt is a fat reduction treatment available to New Jersey, South Jersey, and Philadelphia patients at our Mount Laurel practice. The treatment uses RF (radio frequency) technology that delivers deep heating to the underlying tissue for body sculpting and fat reduction. This heat causes the fat cells to break down. Eventually, the broken cells are removed from the body through its own natural excretion process, leaving you with improved body contours.

Am I the right candidate for truSculpt?

When you meet with South Jersey Skin Care & Laser Center for your consultation, we will determine if the treatment can benefit you. Typically, truSculpt patients at our South Jersey practice have a BMI of less than 30 and have small pockets of unwanted fat in different places of the body.

Who cannot be treated with truSculpt?

Patients who are not candidates for a truSculpt treatment at our New Jersey practice include:

  • Those who are pregnant
  • Those with cardiac pacemakers or internal defibrillators
  • Those with malignant or benign tumors in the target area
  • Those with metallic implants in the target area of any kind, including joint replacements

Can truSculpt be used on all skin types?

Yes, truSculpt can be used on all patients’ skin types.

How long does a treatment take?

Depending on exactly what you would like to achieve, a truSculpt treatment at our South Jersey practice typically takes an hour or less.

How many treatments are necessary for optimal results?

We will discuss the number of treatments based upon the area(s) you wish to have treated and your desired results. Typically, a patient will need three treatments, with each treatment being about four weeks apart.

When can I start seeing visible results?

truSculpt delivers RF energy and uses the body’s natural system to break down fat cells in treated areas. This process takes anywhere from four weeks to three months. A patient may begin to see results any time during that period and beyond.

What do I need to do before my truSculpt treatment?

There is no special preparation needed before a treatment. Remove any jewelry or body piercing in the area prior to treatment.

What happens during the treatment?

First, we will help you identify the specific areas of the body to be treated with truSculpt. The truSculpt handpiece is placed on the skin, which will deliver a pulse of RF energy. Each pulse will last on average four minutes. Upon completion, the handpiece will be moved to an adjacent area to begin a new pulse. The entire treatment usually lasts about an hour.

What does it feel like?

Many of our truSculpt patients in New Jersey say that there is little discomfort during treatment. Due to its unique design, the heating of the area is typically very tolerable. Your provider can adjust the temperature depending upon your comfort level. Typically, no pain medication, topical anesthetics, gels, or active cooling are needed.

Can I return to normal activities after my treatment?

Yes, truSculpt is non-invasive, so New Jersey patients can return to normal activities immediately. Oftentimes, patients return to work right after the session.

Is truSculpt safe? Are there side effects?

The truSculpt system is designed to provide a safe and comfortable procedure. Typically, there is no downtime after the treatment, though patients may experience mild discomfort. Side effects can include redness, sweating, and mild tenderness in the treated areas. Usually this resolves within a few hours. Your provider will talk to you more about what to expect during and after treatment when you meet for your consultation.

truSculpt is FDA cleared for deep tissue heating and the temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite. Learn more at truSculpt.com.
